My Cloth Diaper Story

So what’s My Cloth Diaper Story here it is.. makes me happy every time I tell it.

Finding out I was pregnant first try while using an ovulation strip made my husband and I super excited. We had waited so long to add on to our little family. With all the excitement about being pregnant, brought on google searches about pregnancy; things I wanted to buy for our new little bundle of joy. While searching for pregnancy stuff and baby items I seen an add for BumGenius Diapers. It caught my eye to see such a cute diaper. So HERE at this very moment while going to their site is where it all began. My first thought was “Wow what a cute diaper” but I also asked myself. What do you do with it?  So I started my research about cloth diapers and how to use them, and what types there was, why it was better to use cloth for you baby instead of disposables. It was a lot of information that I kinda understood yet not really knowing what to expect since I had no baby to try it on. This was all new for me since I didn’t cloth diaper my daughter I was young and clueless with her. So I knew with the new baby (Ashton)I wanted to do things different. I spoke with my husband about it and he seemed to be on board with me, but was also clueless as far as how it would work. He started to get so excited that he started telling his sister that was also expecting about these cloth diapers ha ha. I was so excited to tell my mom about my new decision she seemed to be right on board with me as well. She actually told me that she also planned on cloth diapering me when I was a baby, but the diapering service at the time was too expensive for her. I was excited to hear this because it just gave me more motivation to cloth diaper our new baby on the way.

As my due date got closer I started to do some more researching as far as what brand(s) to buy. Since BumGenius was the first brand I seen and after reading reviews I knew that diaper brand is what I wanted. So here I was adding it on to my baby shower registry. My husband and I started to figure out the out of pocket cost and how much we had to save to buy these diapers. Little to our surprise my mom offered to buy my first 12 diapers. I was beyond excited I had no idea how to use them yet I was excited. How funny is that?

I received my Cottonbabies package and was super happy and excited to open it. Here is what was in the box along with bum genius detergent.

So Ashton was born and I was so excited to put these amazing cloth diapers on him, yet still feeling very nervous as to how I was going to go about things. I waited 2 months to put these beauties on him I felt as though I would be to tired to wash after having him but after suffering a rash I said to myself “you better start now hardest part is just doing it”. So I did !! as you can tell in the picture below my snapping was very off, it was loose yet I thought I had done it right haha. This is what it looks like when you have no idea what your doing 🙂

I am very happy I chose to cloth diaper Ashton. It has been the greatest decision for us, not only is it best for him but also saves us money and is better for the environment. I have also met some great friends off forums and now through my blog I have met the greatest mommies that can relate to what I am going through and we just help each other out which is always so nice. I have more online friends then real life friends 🙂 I good with that.
