So, I’m linking up with Eights on the Move for a fun Military Monday each Monday will be a different military topic to talk about. That way you ladies can get to know, more of the military side of me. I found Ashley’s blog through Kelly over at Hiccups and Sunshine, and was totally intrigued and I just had to jump on board with this fun link-up. If you are in the Military and would like to share your mini story, please do so under comments. I would love to read all about your experience.
This weeks topic is :
Did you pack one room at a time? Did you leave it up to the military? Beg & plead for family and friends to help? Hoard all the cardboard boxes you could find? Live on paper plates & solo cups for weeks after you packed your kitchen?Once you arrived & got settled, how would you have done your packing differently? Did you feel like your plan was successful? Will you do it that same way again?
We moved from San Diego, CA to Kingsville TX. We picked up some cardboard boxes from local market stores and also bought the plastic containers. We loaded the Uhaul in San Diego and in Avondale, AZ which is where I was currently living since my hubby was going in and out for underway periods. We did it ourselves .. YAY!! Granted I was 2 months pregnant with my son Ashton. He had requested a advanced pay, which we didn’t get till “moving/driving day” which was very stressful because we just didn’t know if we would have enough money to get down to Texas. God always has a way of making everything better, we arrived to Kingsville, TX. safe and sound.
Once we were here, we had to offload the uhahl and start organizing….. (blah seriously wake me up when this is over). We ate out for the first few days since, we wanted to check out our new hood. We unpacked all day, we would take eating breaks (like the ones in the photo) and of course we still had to make that “Welcome Home Shopping Trip” you know that one where you go to Wally world and buy all the necessities (ex. detergent, groceries, toilet paper and so on…). We only had Adryana, so it was nice that she was older and very helpful to say the least. We finally got settled in and everything was great. Soon realized that this town was very small. This town has grown on me(us), but I am looking forward to leaving here and starting a new chapter of our lives.
A few things I would change and will do for our upcoming move, is get rid of our JUNK NOW and not later. I do not want to carry junk with me. We will be having the military move us this time, which i’m super excited about. Everything else will just fall into place.. as of right now hubby chose 2 open orders Greece and San Diego. We will soon know where we end up going..Cant wait.. only 8 more months and Goodbye Kingsville, TX
