Red, White and Blue

4th Of July.

Military life is not always easy, some days are better than others. I love when we go out and about to a retail store, flower store, restaurant, amusement parks and we ask ” do you offer military discount” and their response is “of course we do”. There are no words to describe how amazing that feels. It’s not just the discount that is amazing of course, however the significance behind the discount. Which to us means that the store, company, restaurants supports our Troops.

There is nothing more rewarding than to see the appreciation and just so much love. I think thats the best part of my hubby’s job is making people smile and I could say the same thing for my brother. That being said, FTD and USO teamed up and are offering a USO Collection flower arrangement along with a few other cute arrangements. Now through 12/31/2016 FTD will be donating 5% of all sales from this collection to the USO. How amazing is that??

The USO is AMAZING!! Here is a little of what they do and offer.

“Today’s USO continuously adapts to the needs of our men and women in uniform and their families, so they can focus on their very important mission. We operate USO centers at or near military installations across the United States and throughout the world, including in combat zones, and even un-staffed USO service sites in places too dangerous for anyone but combat troops to occupy.

USO airport centers throughout the country offer around-the clock hospitality for traveling service members and their families. Our trademark USO tours bring America and its celebrities to service members who are assigned far from home, to entertain them and convey the support of the nation. And our many specialized programs offer a continuum support to service members throughout their journey of service, from the first time they don the uniform until they last time they take it off. “

We’ve used the USO plenty of times. We have visited the USO centers at the airports as well as in port. Such as San Diego, CA. They are always offering dinners and activities for your service members and their families. The USO has been very good to us, not to mention everyone around the world using these services.

If you’d like to contribute, then please grab yourself and your mom, cousin, girlfriend one of these amazing arrangements and help our Troops. Shop the USO Collection

Huge!!! Thanks to all those who support our US Military and a HUGE thanks to FTD for sending my mother this beautiful arrangement!! God Bless You.

John 15:13 Veterans Day @ Baskin Robbins

Veterans Day November 11, such a meaningful day for us,  as Americans. We take the time to recognize the heroes among us. They are the men and women who served in our armed forces, the veterans of the United States of America military.

We pay tribute to the men and woman who risked their lives, so that we can be free. The love the verse in the bible.

Greater Love Has no one than this; to lay down ones life for one’s friend. John 15:13

On Veterans Day, Baskin-Robbins will donate 10 cents from every ice cream scoop sold in its U.S. locations to the United firstclasscamoicecreaminstagramService Organization (USO), in honor of U.S troops and veterans

This donation will help the USO fulfill its mission to lift the spirits of America’s troops and their families at hundreds of places around the world and help ensure they have access to the programs and services they need.

With that, Baskin-Robbins is also celebrating military personnel all month long with its November Flavor of the Month, First Class Camouflage, which features a combination of Chocolate, Salty Caramel, and Cake-flavored ice cream, special Camouflage Waffle Cone and Waffle Bowl, decorated in green, tan and brown, they will be even be able to order First Class Camouflage Layered Sundae, which is made up of OREO® cookie pieces, caramel praline topping, hot fudge and topped off whipped cream

oAs part of the program, the company waives the initial franchise fee of $25,000 for developing a new BaskinRobbins location in select markets for qualified, honorably discharged U.S. veterans, making it easier for them to start their own business.

What is the USO ?

The United Service Organizations Inc. (USO Show) is a nonprofit organization that provides programs, services and live entertainment to United States troops and their families. Since 1941, it has worked in partnership with the Department of Defense (DOD), relying heavily on private contributions and on funds, goods, and services from various corporate and individual donors. Although congressionally chartered, it is not a government agency. The USO operates 160 centers worldwide. (Information from Wikipedia )

Did you know there is a USO in almost every airport?  It’s a room where they offer military personal, a place to relax and wait while waiting for their flight. A few years ago, we traveled from Corpus Christi, TX to Phoenix, AZ for the holidays. We were able to check out the USO in Houston, TX airport. Due to our four hour layover. The USO in Houston is beautiful, a refrigerator full of drinks, their was finger food, snacks for the kids, reclinable sofas. Not to mention a play area for the kids to play, with movies to watch, computers to access internet, and tv’s  to monitor flights. All around. Beautiful. We felt blessed and fortunate to be able to wait at the USO especially since we were traveling with our two kids at the time, our daughter and son of 1 years old. It made the time go by fast. All thanks to the USO and generous people who contribute to it. We thank you very much.

DIY Halloween Care Package for Military

Hi guys, I told you I had a couple of affordable care package ideas coming your way so here is this one I just recently made for my boyfriend.

Personally, I love making care packages and getting crafty with them; It’s something I genuinely enjoy doing. You get to show your creativity through each package and also make the person receiving the package smile and feel at home. To me, this is the perfect time to get cheesy and cute. I’m sure most of you can email your loved one daily through email, but don’t let that stop you. My advice for your package would be: do each one as if you haven’t spoken to them in months. So lets get creative guys!

Halloween Care Package-2

With this specific package I wanted to make it as gory as I possibly could. I’m not artist so I just tried my best ha ha. I was able to get every decoration item at my local Dollar Tree and Michaels was having a sale on their colored construction paper and red paint. Also, I didn’t have enough black paper to line the inside of the box, but I did have black spray paint from a previous DIY I had done. I chose not to use a Flat Rate box because my boyfriend had sent me a list of things he would like and it just wouldn’t have fit. If you run across this problem, malls and local stores always have extra boxes lying around. Just be sure to call first thing in the morning.

Here is a list of things you will need:

  • A sturdy box
  • Tape
  • Glue sticks
  • Craft glue like E600 Adhesive -Wal-Mart
  • Construction paper or Scrapbook paper-Dollar Tree or Micheals)
  • Scissors
  • Paint (Red) -Wal-Mart
  • Spray Paint (I prefer this over construction paper for the inside)
  • Spider Rings- Dollar Tree
  • Plastic Severed Body Parts- Dollar Tree
  • Spider Webs – Dollar Tree
  • Caution Tape- Dollar Tree

This care package was so super easy I almost felt like the instructions were unnecessary so I added tips I learned while making this box.

 Let the Halloween box begin:

  1. Spray the inside of the box with the black spray paint. Once you’ve sprayed it to the intensity of your liking, go ahead and let that completely dry. I chose to let it sit out for a whole day so the smell could go away as well.Halloween Care Package
  2. Grab your red paint and do the fancy ‘blood drippings’. I found it was easier to paint the top half with brush and then to do the actual blood drops with my fingers. I also applied about a courter-sized drop of paint each time I went in to do a blood dropping.
  3. Once the paint has completely dried, pull out your ring spiders and cut off the ring part to them so you can glue that nicely down. Get an idea and start gluing, girl! I recommend for the severed body parts go in the bottom flaps or you might have a hard time taping your box shut. Also, with this particular glue I found its best if you let it get tacky so blow on it or let it sit for a couple of seconds.
  4. Place all of the items you will be sending and put the spider webs over.
  5. Throw all of the left over spiders over the spider web.
  6. Tape your caution tape across your box (I’ve seen people tape them across flaps as well.

Just like that, you are all done ladies! I honestly had so much fun with this box and I hope you do too. If you have any questions or suggestions please let me know in the comments below. I hope you enjoyed making this with me and may you and your loved ones have a safe and spooky Halloween, muahahahaha!

If you guys try this out, please tag us using #SewfattyDIY so we can see your creative rendition on this box.

-Xoxo
