What is the USO ?
The United Service Organizations Inc. (USO Show) is a nonprofit organization that provides programs, services and live entertainment to United States troops and their families. Since 1941, it has worked in partnership with the Department of Defense (DOD), relying heavily on private contributions and on funds, goods, and services from various corporate and individual donors. Although congressionally chartered, it is not a government agency. The USO operates 160 centers worldwide. (Information from Wikipedia )
Did you know there is a USO in almost every airport? It’s a room where they offer military personal, a place to relax and wait while waiting for their flight. A few years ago, we traveled from Corpus Christi, TX to Phoenix, AZ for the holidays. We were able to check out the USO in Houston, TX airport. Due to our four hour layover. The USO in Houston is beautiful, a refrigerator full of drinks, their was finger food, snacks for the kids, reclinable sofas. Not to mention a play area for the kids to play, with movies to watch, computers to access internet, and tv’s to monitor flights. All around. Beautiful. We felt blessed and fortunate to be able to wait at the USO especially since we were traveling with our two kids at the time, our daughter and son of 1 years old. It made the time go by fast. All thanks to the USO and generous people who contribute to it. We thank you very much.
Are you or your family military ?
If so, have you visited a USO before?
