DIY Fabric Washi Tape

Do It Yourself Fabric Washi Tape www.sewfatty.com

My friend Benetta recently sent me happy mail she included some of her super cute washi tape. I was totally hooked. So I’ve started making washi to use for gifts and recently for Christmas. So here I am showing you how to make your very own from scraps of fabric you may have laying around.

Things you’ll need : Do It Yourself Fabric Washi Tape www.sewfatty.com

  • fabric choice / fabric scraps ( you want to make sure your fabric is nice and ironed. If not, you’ll have wrinkled washi)
  • double sided adhesive tape ( carpet tape is another choice)
  • scissors/ rotary cutter

How to make Washi-AWESOMENESS :

  • apply one side of your tape onto fabric and press firmly
  • grab your scissors/rotary cutter and cut your strips.
  • when ready to use, you can cut your long strip in small pieces.
  • peel the back and use on whatever your heart desires.

What to use washi tape on ?
gift wrapping, scrapbooking, crafts, the possibilities are endless.

DIY Edible Finger Painting & Children’s Artwork
(Kelly’s Closet Egg Hunt Giveaway)

SewFatty: DIY Edible Finger Paint www.sewfatty.com

I am always trying to find way’s to entertain my little bam bam and munchkin. We don’t really have a nice grassy area to play in, due to our grass having those little spiky poky things. Do you know what i’m talking about? They stick to your clothes, skin pretty much anything. Well our entire yard has those, so we try to keep activities indoor or sometimes spend time at the playground on base. While checking my instagram application I seen my friend @fenderkatie had just done a DIY canvas with finger painting, I thought wow what a great idea! So you know I totally had to do it.

Here is what you’ll need:

  • white canvas
  • small containers to put the colors in (I used gerber food jars since I already had them)
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/2  or 1/4 cup of cornstarch
  • 1 Tb. of sugar
  • food coloring

Directions:

Combine water, cornstarch and sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and keep on stirring until mixture thickens. Pour into small containers and add your food coloring. Simple. (*let the paint cool off before giving it to your little one) Below you will see some pictures to give you an idea.DIYkidfun

The Masterpieces!!

Overall my little love’s had so much fun, little bam bam was just sticking his fingers in all the colors. Adryana mixed all the colors apparently and made herself she said. I totally love our new artwork. They are going up on the wall as soon as they dry. *Be sure you write on the back of the canvas with the date and age of your munchkins. Now go make some masterpieces with your little munchkins. It’s fun and also perfect for easter !!!

Do you know what else is perfect for easter? How about we play an Egg Hunt Game with Kelly’s Closet ?

My First Newborn Cloth Diaper

myfirstdiapercol

Last weekend I sewed my very own Newborn Cloth Diaper. My friend Kassandra over at Going Green With The Grizls was also doing the same thing. We pretty much chatted all weekend over newborn diapers and sharing tips on how to improve my sewing he he.. I have to say I love sewing newborn diapers it is fun and relaxing. When it comes to the elastic I have to say its not the easiest it’s a bit tricky but I will keep on practicing till I perfect it. I have some amazing fabric coming my way and I am super excited !!! Stay tuned for more newborn fluff.
